You know I adore my shark movies. Why? They’re fun and mindless. It’s fun to get a bit spooked and bite my nails while enjoying a nice hefeweizen.
I found Deep Blue Sea on Netflix: Searching for a cure to Alzheimer’s disease, a group of scientists on an isolated research facility become the prey, as a trio of intelligent sharks fight back. Director: Renny Harlin. Writers: Duncan Kennedy, Donna Powers. Stars: Thomas Jane, Saffron Burrows, Samuel L. Jackson, LL Cool J.
I really enjoyed this movie. It takes place on a research station in the middle of the ocean. Most of the facility is under water. So besides the sharks, there’s the water to worry about.
Things went from tragic to horrific and then worse in this movie in a hurry. The body count wasn’t as high as I usually like, but it was a great watch. It was very suspenseful and the sharks were terrifying.
No singing or dancing. I laughed when some of the people got munched. Just because sometimes the sharks did very unexpected things. They weren’t your average sharks.
If you enjoy the genre, I highly recommend it. I wasn’t bored at all. I was often scared. I jumped several times and it seemed the sharks were going to be the victors in this battle.
I give Deep Blue Sea the coveted beer is optional rating. I see there’s a Deep Blue Sea 2. Woo hoo!
