What a show our valiant knights put on yesterday. My ears are ringing. I think they need some Advil. Probably just more grog.
You, the crowd, will be eligible to win prizes via drawing everyday during the joust. All you need to do is leave a comment cheering for any knight. You may cheer up to three times a day. Each comment will earn you an entry in the drawing. Comments close at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time US each day.
You score points for the knights by using key words they were given. For instance, if I were jousting as Pax Knight and my key words were huzzah, Pax Knight, and Backworlds, and you left a comment that said Huzzah, Pax Knight! That would score two points for the knight. If you use all three words, the knight gets three points.
The knight with the most points at the end of the week will win a year of promotion on my website, a signed M. Pax paperback of their choice, chocolate, a steampunk pin, and bragging rights.
To get the key words, visit the jousting knights:
- Star Knight
- Lady Mary
- Lady Elson
- Sir Burns
- Xanthus Ehrensvard
- Ghost Knight
- Lady of the Lab
- Sir Elias Gargarin Tavish
- Lady Patricia Lynne
Rumor has it some of the knights are offering
bribesfavors on their sites. Ooo!
Sip Your Grog While the Bards Say…
Excerpt from Going off Dreams by K.E.Nowinsky:
Zhou, a shape-shifting Phoenix, took to action: the sounds were quick, like a flag flapping in vicious wind. His great wings flexed as he straightened out inches from the ground. His movements were accurate and precise. I saw his target … a lion like beast; the Manticores.
The beast was twice as big as a regular lion, with a glorious gold mane which flowed over a coat of thick fur. Its body was full of fur, and massive claws. It had the tail and face of a dragon; the tail had spikes that curled up like a scorpion’s, and smoke was coming out of its nose and mouth. The tail whipped around as spikes shot out, the damage caused was instant, the victims left writhing in pain.
The Manticore reared up trying to reach Zhou with its huge claws, unsuccessfully. Zhou was flying above its head, dive bombing the beast again and again. He soared right through the flames, directly toward the monster. With open talons he struck, slitting its massive neck; its blood spread like liquid fire. The Manticore fell, and turned to burning ash in the sinister night.
The Feats of Xanthus Ehrensvard
Sir Xanthus Ehrensvard killed his first dragon when he was twelve. Though he is a gentleman, he doesn’t require any formalities. You may call him Xan.
In the world where dragons have slithered their way into positions of power, Xan remains undefeated.
Though he’s never competed in a joust before, he has great sportsmanship, and he’s trained in the use of all weapons including the lance. The Ehrensvard family lance has been handed down from father to son for several generations. For his family’s honor, Xan will wield it in this competition.
And he will do so shirtless.
Yes, he was out-voted on that one.
Hurrah for Xan the Dragonslayer! Hurrah for the modern day paladin! And hurrah for that sexy chest and those ripped abs!
Let the Huzzahs Begin!
