The last week has been…. tumultuous in my publishing life. Sales continue steady, and I’m so grateful for that. Thank you, awesome Backworlds fans!
Currently, The Backworlds and The Renaissance of Hetty Locklear are in production as audio books. Yay for that! And I lined up some awesome talent to read my books. I have to say, there is a major cool factor to hearing someone else read my work and pick up on the nuances of my rhythm and flow.
This required creating audio covers. If you follow me on Facebook, you probably read of a certain business incident last week. It resulted in an entirely new cover for The Renaissance of Hetty Locklear — audio, print, and ebook. I have to thank Erin Dameron-Hill of edhgraphics for her quick, clever, and talented work. I really dig the new cover on many levels. 1) It’s sexay… 2) it’s mysterious with an X-files kind of vibe 3) it says something about the book… finally 4) it’s snazzy. Yeah, applaud for this one.
I also had her do The Backworlds audio, which turned out fab. I knew eventually I’d have her redo the ebook and print to match the audio and other Backworlds books. Amazon paid me, so I went ahead and had it done.
Not only that! She designed the Carry On buttons for me. Captain Talos wears a Carry On pin in the Backworlds books, so I had these created. You can have one for the low price of a review. Send me the link and your snail mail address, and I’ll pop one in the post for you. [mpaxauthor at gmail dot com]
Now that I have my team in place, I hope to have no further business ‘incidents‘.
Amazon also had fun with my prices last weekend. It quit selling The Backworlds for free, and put Stopover on sale without my knowledge. The Backworlds was quickly fixed thanks to my Untethered Realms’ colleagues and local writing pals. I have to wait for Smashwords to get Sony to pull my titles from their site before Amazon will fix Stopover. But at least Amazon was very quick to reply to my issue — within 6 hours. I was quite surprised.
All that business crap got in the way of writing this week. But all is finally back on track. Onward and onward!
PS, the 99 cent stint may have been a boon in disguise. My downloads surged like a flood, taking The Backworlds to #1 in space opera, #65 in science fiction, and #527 overall in the Kindle store. Normally I don’t check rankings anymore, but noticed the huge jump when I checked my sales Wednesday night. Then I couldn’t resist peeking. Go Backworlds! Woot!

I’m glad my head quit aching. Be that a lesson to you all — do not hit your head.
My dad had a birthday Tuesday. Happy Birthday, Dad! He and Mom made it back to WNY safely.
The 24″ telescope at the observatory is fixed. Yay! I’ll be up there tonight. Hope the sky is clear.
Thanks for stopping in! Have a great weekend!
