Last Night’s Guild Meeting
I attended this month’s meeting of Central Oregon Writers Guild. I resigned my post as blog director in July, for the same reason I condensed to one site on the web, time and priorities. I’m still a member of the Guild, however, and frequently attend the meetings. I enjoy seeing friends and chatting about writing, publishing, and what-not.
The presentation, Promotion 101, was given by friend and colleague, Paty Jager. Wow, was that packed with a lot of information. Some stuff I knew, some I didn’t. Today, I’ll be working on QR codes, and some physical promotion pieces.
Her biggest advice on marketing, find what you enjoy doing and what you’re good at, then go at it full throttle. Great, informative presentation packed with so many fantastic ideas and suggestions. A big thanks to Paty for all of that.
Best Space Opera
The Backworlds was added to the Best Space Opera list on Goodreads. Cool that someone put my book there. A few votes will nudge it up farther. http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2616.Best_Space_Opera Will you vote?
If I finish editing and formatting The Renaissance of Hetty Locklear by the end of next week, like I’ve planned, I will stick to the November 12th release date and put up the linky link for the launch party that week. If you’re interested in an advance review copy, let me know in the comments or via email.
Boomtown Craze, book 3 in the Backworld series, continues. I seem to be picking up the pace. Finally. Close to 15,000 words in, I’d like to be mostly done with the unpolished draft by end of October. If I do that, I will set a deadline for the polished draft with my very talented editor.
I continue work on The Augmentation of Hetty Locklear, too, but at a slower pace. Once it’s predecessor is done, I’ll be giving it more attention.
The plan is to have Boomtown and Aug Hetty out in Winter and Spring 2013. I have a pretty good idea what the third Hetty Locklear will be about. I even have a title, The Three Degrees of Hetty Locklear. And, I have a very broad idea of what Backworlds four will be about, but no title. Before I release Backworlds four, I plan on releasing the first in a novella series that will encompass stories from the Foreworlds. So far, those are my plans for 2013.
Around the Blogosphere
Thanks to Felicity Lennie for the Lovely blogger award. I’m supposed to reveal things about myself… I wrote two space opera series before publishing The Backworlds; it was love at first sight when I met my husband; I went on a ghost hunt in the Caribbean on our honeymoon. No, didn’t find any ghosts.
Christine Rains is having a birthday party and giveaway on Friday, October 5th.

Au Revoir PMO
This is the last weekend of the season up at the observatory. Winter is coming… A very appropriate saying for these parts, since winter is our longest season. Perhaps you recall me saying it snowed in June this year. Long-time residents have told me they’ve woken up to snow on 4th of July before.
The smoky fire seems to be out. I no longer smell it and the skies are clear. We’re almost 80 this weekend, so I hope to keep my toes warm, too.
