Beacons

“Beacons” was entered in the 2009 Literary Harvest writing contest sponsored by Central Oregon Writers Guild. It placed 4th and has been published in the 2009 Literary Harvest chapbook. The mysterious lights are based on a real experience I had coming home from the observatory one night. I never did figure out what they were. They weren’t really scary, just strange. Best of all, they are great inspiration. Hope to run into them again some time. Contemporary science fiction / paranormal. Video. Working on a rewrite of this story.

Semper Audacia

Alone. Leda is the last living member of the brigade, the sole defender of her world. War took everyone she knew, leaving her in the company of memories and ghosts. Or is it madness? The siren blares. The enemy is coming. Or is it? The approaching vessel isn’t a friendly design, but it answers with the correct code. Leda must figure out whether the arrival is reinforcements or the final assault. In an aging flyer, she ventures out to meet her world’s fate, the last stand. Space opera novelette.

(The) Tumbas

Based on an article I read in Scientific American about synthetic biology. ‘Fascinating.’ Novelette, accepted to be published in the Wandering Weeds anthology, early 2012. Space opera.
