About M. Pax

*

I write mostly science fiction and fantasy. It calls to me. I started with more literary stuff [as I'm quite enamored with Jane Austen, Hesse, Tolstoy, and Thomas Hardy], but a dude with a jet pack and blaster kept yelling at me, “Hey you! Over here. Remember your awe for Dune and 2001?” Oh yeah. Vonnegut and Bradbury, too.

I call the Pacific Northwest home, a truly amazing place. If I have to stay on this planet, this is where I want to be. I dream of seeing other worlds, so often peruse NASA and the like as some of the photos are close to being there – especially from Cassini and the Mars missions. Looking forward to what New Horizons and Juno will turn up in 2015.

When I watched Neil Armstrong walk on the moon as a kid, I became fascinated by space and what’s out there. I even tried Tang and freeze dried ice cream. Fortunately, I found Pine Mountain Observatory to scratch that itch where I docent as a star guide every summer. Working at the observatory is fantastic and I love every awesome second of it. It and where I live inspire the words I write.

I share my home with my two cats and the Husband Unit. All love sci-fi. A great night is gathering on the couch to watch an old sci-fi movie. My one cat seems to have a crush on Spock. The pointed ears maybe?

I do confess to a continued obsession with Jane Austen. She’s awesome.

M. Pax is author of the sci-fi series, The Backworlds, and the new adult contemporary fantasy The Renaissance of Hetty Locklear. A Browncoat and SG fan, she’s also slightly obsessed with Jane Austen. In the summers she docents as a star guide at Pine Mountain Observatory where the other astronomers now believe she has the most extensive collection of moon photos in existence. No fear, there will be more next summer. She lives in stunning Central Oregon with the Husband Unit and two lovely, spoiled cats.
