Today’s Featured Knights:
Lady Margaret hails from the hills of Dixie, most likely plotting her opponents’ ends. With such beautiful curls, how can we not shudder?
Lady Margaret’s story:
Be still my beating heart, I have never been called a knight! Perhaps a lady? Are those giggles I hear? Why, I could be a lady. I suppose I could even be a knight. I mean if you tell me you love me, and I’ll tell you some pretty lies. Now, don’t go thinking I lack morals. By lies I mean some stories of happily ever after complete with swoons and kisses, and some hot, hot men. Ooh la la. What a life. Sipping coffee and making things up. So much better than the reality of kids, homework, housework, and dinner. Meh. Who needs that? Playing pretend is so much more fun. Just this morning I had tea with Bella. Lovely girl. A little daft in the head at times, but she has a heart of gold. And speaking of gold, did I ever tell you she bought her last husband from prison? No? Well then, grab a cup of tea and get comfy….
Showing no fear is The Black Queen. An imposing name to make the most stout quiver.
Excerpt from: Sacrifice HER, The Sacrifice Series Book One
When a city is at stake is the life of one sixteen-year old girl worth risking thousands? Deidra Moore goes on the run after escaping from a group of human sacrifices for Bane: God of Gore. She doesn’t believe he exists and sees uncertainty in the scorching desert as a better alternative. But Faux City isn’t finished with her and their leader Lord Brinn is ordered by Bane – through one of his maiden worshipers- to bring her back or face dire consequences. In the desert Deidra meets a wanderer named Kale and as feelings spark can they find a safe place to lead a new life before Lord Brinn and his soldiers catch up with them? Yet the question remains. Does Bane really exist and if he does what will happen if either side succeeds or fails? Told in alternating perspectives of both the runaway servant girl and the blonde strong willed leader.
Note: This is Deidra’s POV and is when she is thrown in with others to be sacrificed.
“Move along,” the voice said again and I looked to see guards ushering us in two by two, “your sacrifice won’t be forgotten. Honour to those willing to do their duty and shame on the bound who refuse.” I could his eyes boring in on me.
I nearly tripped when my turn came. My sandals added another rhythm to the chorus of movement and heavy breathing. Lady Apology still held my hand and we both moved slowly though the impenetrable darkness. An ethereal shriek made the earlier growling seem natural. The human screams began and I removed myself from the fools trying to die early.
A tug told me my self-appointed buddy had something in mind. My feet barely kept up as she pulled us to a corner and our backs hit a wall. “Listen, there’s a way out. A weakness in the walls.”
“What?” The words didn’t register. This female was top class. The class most accepting of sacrifices to God of Gore. She couldn’t be doing this. According to our laws an incomplete sacrifice would result in severe consequences. Worst being complete removal of divine protection or total annihilation. Ten years ago something happened during the sacrifice that infuriated Bane causing the number to jump from five to twelve. Lord Brinn who came into power months ago struggled to keep up. “Are you serious?”
