Glum? In blurgsville? Every author has been there. We’re bombarded with a lot of negative, aren’t we? It’s a wonder any of us keep going.
The truth is we’re not perfect and we get picked on for our flaws. Another truth: no author is perfect. Not even the best sellers.
So the good news is, we don’t have to be perfect to connect with an audience and sell books. And the great news is, we’re just going to keep getting better.
That’s true in all things. Strive to be a support in the lives of others and do your best not to be a poop head f weasel. Because no one needs that.
This is the February 2014 edition of IWSG. Hosted by Alex J. Cavanaugh the 1st Wednesday of every month. It’s not to late to join in.
Now for some entertainment news…
A Different Kind of Knight
A brief interview with Mary Waibel:
If you could send the knight in A Different Kind of Knight out to do a quest/errand for you right now, what would it be?
Hmm. This is a tricky question as there really are two knights in the story: Prince Brody and Princess Rielle. I’d send Brody to round up some women to swoon over him and his story :-). And I’d send Rielle to bring Brody back
What makes him different?
Brody is a man with nothing left to lose, or so he thinks. Rielle shows him he hasn’t lost as much as he thinks he has. Rielle is in serious need of a confidence boost. It’s hard being the only woman in charge of a bunch of men. Brody helps her learn how to work with someone else and still be in charge.
If your book was a chocolate bar, what would be in it?
Chocolate (clearly) to hold everything together. A touch of chili powder to give it some heat, some nuts or crispies to show the rough spots, and some raisins to give it some sweetness.
Through a twist of fate, Princess Gabrielle became First Knight of the King’s Elite Guard, a position always held by the second born male. She’s spent years proving to the Minsters of Faldaera she is capable of leading the king’s Army.
When mythical creatures plague her kingdom, Rielle is sent to capture Captain Brody, the alleged culprit behind the attacks and the man who broke her heart four years ago.
Brody, Crown Prince of Delphine, is living in self-imposed exile, atoning for the sins of his father. But Fate has different plans for him. Tired, beaten down, and ready to give up on life, he is tossed into the path of the one person he would do anything for―Princess Gabrielle.
With a traitor in her ranks, and a mark on her head, Brody joins forces with Rielle, hoping to keep the woman he loves safe. Happily-ever-after is not guaranteed, and mythical creatures aren’t the only danger the couple face. As battles rage, Rielle has the chance to prove herself a capable leader, but will doing so cost her the love of her life?
