Michael Offutt‘s Oculus, the sequel to Slipstream is now out! Congrats Michael!

Autumn has arrived in New York, and Jordan Pendragon attends his first classes as a freshman at Cornell. Born with a brilliant mathematical mind, he balances life as a research assistant with that of a student athlete.

But Jordan also has a quest. He must find the Black Tower, a monolithic edifice housing a thing that defines the very structure of the universe. Jordan believes it is buried somewhere in Antarctica under miles of prehistoric ice.

October finds Jordan earning a starting position with the Cornell hockey team. But a dark cloud gathers over his rookie season. Unexplained deaths, whispers of a cannibal cult, a prophecy, and a stone known only as the Oculus, cast a shadow over his athletic ambitions. It is the start of a terrifying journey down a path of mystery, murder, and to a confrontation with an Evil more ancient than the stars.

Leigh T. Moore also has a new book out, Rouge.

Trapped in the underground theater world of 1890s New Orleans, Hale Ferrer has only one goal: escape. But not without Teeny, the orphan-girl she rescued from the streets and promised to protect.

Freddie Lovel, Hale’s wealthy Parisian suitor, seems to be the easy solution. If only his touch could arouse her interest like Beau’s, the penniless stagehand who captures her heart.

Denying her fears, Hale is poised to choose love until an evil lurking in their cabaret-home launches a chain of events that could cost her everything.

Annual Jousting Tournament?

I’m thinking about making the jousting tournament an annual event, since it was so much fun and caused a nice bit of social network buzz. I’d like to figure out how to get more blogs and authors and prizes involved [that means the event involving several and maybe many of us]. If interested in brainstorming on how to make an online Renaissance Festival work and being involved in next year’s event, express your interest in the comments or in an email. mpaxauthor at gmail dot com. So far ideas have come up with kingdoms, jousts, battle poets, a witch hunt, wizardry contest, etc… Anyway, I though it’d be great to share my idea with my friends. I believe this could become a mega event.

And I’m making myself as scarce as possible for the rest of this year. I have a deadline looming for Boomtown Craze, book 3 in the Backworlds series. I’m past the halfway point, but have to finish this draft and do the entire polished draft by January 21st. With all the holidays, that’s not as much time as I think.

Those of you in the US, have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I’ll be back on November 28th. The lovely and talented Ghost Knight and I will be chatting about book launches.

And don’t forget to show Hetty some love. It’s a really, really good story. And I can’t wait to write the rest of the series.

  1. To my fellow knights, twas an honor and a privilege to joust, jab, knock each other about, secure the taverns from the cutpurses and maketh ourselves grand tosspots upon the grog service regularly at the tavern of Spit Toon. My hope is that the grandest champions of all are Lady Pax and The Renaissance of Hetty Locklear.

The joust has netted more than fun times, I’ve even gained new found enjoyment of social media and a few friends. Thanks to all who cheered, all who laughed and Knight of the Fae Forest, still have that standing appointment for that grog lol!!!

Congrats to the new releases coming out. I love the covers.

As for the jousting, I’m wondering if we can cause a few twitter trends by #jousting or #grogtime or ##wizardrycontest. That would be fun, maybe set up a time and use Twitterchat for these interactions.

  2. Mary, I really enjoyed the tournament, it was a blast. I would love to be a part of something similar next year. A big congrats to Angela, alias the Ghost Knight she has been a lot of fun to joust against!

Enjoy your break from blogging and I hope the writing goes well. See you at the end of November.

  3. A round of huzzahs and grogs for all the brave Knights and three cheers for Ghost Knight for winning!
This was a lot of fun and I’m ready for a multi-blog joust, explore the kingdoms, find the wizards, whatever next year. :)
All three of those book covers have stunning colors to them!
You might be scarce on the interwebz, Lady Mary, but your presence will still be felt. Nov 27th is the day you are trapped in Mistress Snark’s parlor having tea with her. Bwahahaha!

  4. You made a strong showing, Knight of Uber. Another day may have won you the games.

I like the idea of the Twitter trends, Angela. I will look into setting up a Tavern… Perhaps there and FB. You made the joust so much fun last week. Thank you.

    I suppose I’m ready, Alex.

It was a pleasure having you as part of the tournament, Carolyn. Your feats on the field were exemplary. With the holiday this week, I’m worried I won’t get as much done as I need to. Siiigh.

I look forward to tea at Mistress Snark’s, Laura.

It’s great to see more of our writer friends entering the market, Diane.

  5. Congrats to Ghost Knight! And kudos to all the knights for their valiant efforts. And most of all, congratulations to you Mary for putting on such a creative and fun tournament for your book launch!
