  What to Read

Congrats to Christine Rains on her acceptance of Red for publication by Pill Hill Press. It’s her sci-fi flash piece.

Anna Marie Smith released Alphabet Wishes: A Collection of Poems. Congratulations to Anna.

Laura Eno releases Wraith, June 27th. Congratulations Laura!

 Awesome

Went to see Prometheus in 3D last week with one of my writing pals. What made it worth the price of admission was feeling as if I stood on an alien world. It’s something I’ve always dreamed of doing. Just awesome. It was an enjoyable movie, but I thought they could have upped it a notch on the suspense and scary factors.

I set a release date for Stopover at the Backworlds’ Edge. July 23rd. I’ll be doing another launch party and will be putting up the linky link shortly.

Polishing the chapter ones of Earth Hereafter and Boomtown Craze, the next two stories in the Backworlds series. Madly writing to complete The Renaissaince of Hetty Locklear, anticipated release end of October 2012.

Have a great weekend everybody!

  1. Thanks so much for the mention!
I can’t wait for Stopover’s launch party. I’ve already got my anti-hibernation gear and chocolate loaded in my bag. :)

  2. I loved Alien. I think I’ll be disappointed with Prometheus from what I’ve read about it.

  3. Excellent, Laura. Thanks for making the move over here. Looking forward to your visit to Spacedock 19 next week.

I thought it was still a good and fun movie, Tonja.

  4. Mary, great news you have going here. I’m hoping The Dark Knight Rises is just as immerse as Avatar or Prometheus. Nolan knows how to build worlds.

  5. I hope so, too, Maurice. I want to see ALVH next.

  6. Looking forward to Stopover’s release, Mary. I’ve been reading everything I can get my eyeballs on about Prometheus. Recent comments agree with you about it being not-so scary. I put that down as a plus: I like sleeping at night and my imagination makes that difficult after watching horror movies. Sometimes it isn’t even sleeping that a problem.

As a young person I went to see The Exorcist & was disappointed in the movie: didn’t seem nearly as terrifying as the hype made it out to be. But I worked nights for a janitorial company where I’d get locked into grocery stores to do the cleaning at night while they were closed up. Getting through the darkened store, past refrigerator cases that made popping and creaking noises, through the dark storage room stacked high with cases of goods to the breaker panel to turn on the lights became a TENSE situation for a week or so after the movie.

  7. Hey Mary!!! Just getting used to stopping by the new blog. More control/data? Looks great!

  8. Ah, so it affected you more than you thought, Doug. I keep thinking about Prometheus. Definitely worth seeing.

Hi Libby. Most of it has been here awhile. Being able to lighten pages is new.
